Beautiful Chinese antique dish decorated in polychrome enamel. This is a large (also heavy) old dish. The motifs seen on the shaped yellow collar (in the form of a ryui fungus) are Buddhist precious objects. The flowers are hawthorn (prunus), lotus, orchid, peony, chrysanthemum, etc. The mask handles on the sides may originally have had wire carriers fitted. 19th century. It looks slightly older than shown in most of the photos. Dimensions: 11 1/4" width (tip to tip) x 6 1/2" depth |
